Residential Underground Water Leak Detection
A high water bill, a meter that keeps moving or unexplained dampness may point to a hidden underground supply-pipe leak. LeakPinpoint checks the accessible pipe route and narrows the suspected location before excavation.
When to contact us
- Your water bill increased without a clear change in use.
- The meter keeps moving when taps and appliances are off.
- You hear running water or notice dampness with no visible source.
- A plumber suspects an underground leak but cannot locate it.
- You want to avoid opening several areas just to search for the pipe defect.
Information that helps
- Property type: terrace, semi-detached, bungalow, apartment or other
- Town or state
- What changed and when it started
- Recent water bills, if relevant
- What the water meter does when normal water use is stopped
- A short, clear meter video with personal details hidden
- Photographs and any known pipe-route information
You do not need every answer before contacting us.
How the inspection works
- Review the symptoms — We discuss the bill, meter behaviour, dampness, water sounds and previous plumbing checks.
- Check the likely pipe route — We identify the meter, accessible valves, possible pipe route and areas that cannot be reached.
- Choose suitable listening points — The method depends on the pipe, pressure, surface and surrounding noise.
- Compare the route — We listen at several suitable points and repeat checks to narrow the area.
- Mark and explain — When the findings are clear enough, we mark the suspected location and explain the excavation recommendation.
What you receive
- A clearly marked suspected location when sufficient findings are obtained
- A straightforward explanation of what was found
- Photographs of the marked area when included or required
- Recommendations for excavation and repair
What can affect the inspection
Very small leaks, plastic pipes, low pressure, deep burial, heavy traffic, machinery noise, uncertain pipe routes, limited access and more than one leak can make the work more difficult.
No method can guarantee that every leak will be located. If the result is inconclusive, we explain why and discuss the next practical step.
How we prepare a residential quotation
The quotation depends on the property type, location, accessible pipe route, symptoms, expected inspection time and travel requirements. A terrace house, semi-detached house and large bungalow may require different work even when the symptoms sound similar.
After the location is marked
Your appointed plumber or contractor normally opens the marked area, exposes the pipe and confirms the actual defect before carrying out the repair. LeakPinpoint does not include excavation or repair unless separately agreed.
Send us the property details.
Tell us the property type, town or state, what you have noticed and what the meter does when normal water use is stopped. A short meter video and recent bill information may also help.
